Aaron Fields and Cadre OG of the Nozzle Forward

Aaron Fields is a firefighter for the City of Seattle and the OG of the Nozzle Forward. Between his dad, brother, and himself, there is nearly always a Fields member on watch somewhere in the 5th battalion. His aspiration has always been to ride on the back of Engine 28, allowing him to work in the neighborhood he grew up in (98118 shout-out). After time at 28’s, Aaron moved to his dad’s spot on Engine Company 13, Battalion 5 headquarters. He is known for his dislike of “the MAN”, tendency to question authority, and zealous belief that good basics win. Aaron developed the skills shared in the Nozzle Forward in an unrelenting pursuit of all things engine. The skills are adapted from many sources, but reconstructed to be based around simple principles that maximize mechanical advantage. At the request of folks who wanted to see how he was going about hand-line use the Nozzle Forward was born as a program and has been slap’in lines around since 2008. When all else fails, give ‘em a West Coast Salute……

Brothers In Battle

Many say they are the keys to the city, but this is only if you understand how to maximize the designed mechanical advantage, leverage and force of these tools.

Once you do, you can problem solve and work through many common fireground forcible entry challenges and know when and how to change things up and think or work outside the box to get the job done.

This class is all about the Irons & Door work.

Upon completion of this course Firefighters will be able to dress and set up their tools for success, perform a rapid size up to identify and defeat multiple forcible entry challenges, account for door control, effectively use commands to enhance communication, develop good striking techniques, and perform the appropriate standardized techniques while working alone or as part of a team.

Seconds do count. To effectively mitigate a high stress, unpredictable event, we must be able to communicate to all rescue members our intent and predict each other’s actions based on standardized training and techniques.

True Grit - Nik Pluskota and Cadre

The objective of this training is to equip firefighters with the necessary skills and tactics to effectively manage and move firefighters through walls, entanglements, up and down stairs, and out of structures in high pressure situations.

Firefighter Nic Pluskota is a firefighter with Spokane County Fire District 9. He is one of the lead instructors for the FLAMES program hosted by Chatsworth Fire Department in Chatsworth Georgia. This course summarizes some of the skills and abilities learned in the FLAMES program. Firefighter Pluskota travels to Georgia twice each year to give back to the program.

“I believe that when it comes to these skills, they might be some of the hardest things you will ever do on a fire ground, physically and mentally.” says Pluskota.

This program puts firefighters in the mindset of stress and exhaustion and shows that the body can perform and when its the real deal the body is ready.
